New Features in MikroTik Winbox 4

The new MikroTik Winbox 4 has the following features.

• Modern GUI – The new Winbox 4 is a massive change of its GUI from the older version. All the previous versions had almost same GUI but the new Winbox 4 is totally change. At first looking, we may face a little bit confusion.
• Resource Panel – The new Winbox 4 has added a new resource panel at the bottom of the GUI. Although this panel can be hide from panel settings.
• Performance Improvements – The new Winbox is faster and takes less time to load. It has faster command response.
• Dark Mode – Winbox 4 introduces Dark Mode which is so loved by some Winbox users.

These are main features introduced by the Winbox 4. Besides these, new features are being introduced at each new update.

Download and Install MikroTik Winbox 4

MikroTik Winbox 4 is now available for download. We can download Winbox 4 from MikroTik Download page. If we go to download page, we will see MikroTik Winbox 4 download is available for popular three operating system – Windows, Linux and macOS.

So, choose Winbox 4 package that is suitable for your operating system. The size of Winbox 4 is not so big. So, it will not take much time to download.

After download, run the Winbox 4 software. The login window of the MikroTik Winbox 4 looks like the following image.

From the login screen we can see, the Logo of the Winbox has completely changed in Winbox 4. We can also see the Neighbours panel is now side by side.

We can now login to our MikroTik RouterOS using Winbox 4 providing IP address/MAC address, username and password.

After login to Winbox 4, we will feel a new look of Winbox. The design of Winbox 4 has a massive change. The inside of the Winbox 4 looks like the following image.

At the bottom of Winbox 4, we can see resource panel which will show MikroTik RouterOS version and Model of the RouterBoard, CPU and Memory usage and Date Time. Resource panel at bottom is a new feature of Winbox 4. Resource panel can be hide from the settings menu.

The menu panel of MikroTik Winbox 4 is almost same as the old Winbox except the icon change. We can go any service management from this menu panel easily.

Major Change of MikroTik Winbox 4

The major design change of MikroTik Winbox 4 will be found in Action Panel. In any Action Panel, we will see new design of button, input box and the position of the action button. For example, if we go to IP > Addresses menu item, we will find a new design like the following image. We may face a little bit confusion at first looking who are familiar with the Old Winbox. But it is simpler than the older version.

MikroTik Winbox 4 – Dark Mode

Winbox 4 has introduced Dark Mode which is preferred most of the engineers. Light mode is the default mode of MikroTik Winbox 4 but if we want, we can easily switch light mode to dark mode and vice versa from settings. The dark mode of Winbox 4 looks like the following image.
