MikroTik Load Balancing with 2 PPPoE and 1 Static WAN using ECMP | September 24, 2019
ECMP provides almost 100% reliable load balancing and link redundancy solution. ECMP is a per connection load balancing where connection is marked with source and destination IP pair. In my previous article I discussed how to configure DUAL WAN load balancing with failover using ECMP method where WAN connections were static IP Addresses. But some ISP companies use PPPoE service for their client connection. So, some network administrators become confused to configure load balancing with PPPoE WAN connection because PPPoE [...]

How to Block VPN Access with MikroTik Router | May 14, 2019
Sometimes system administrators create firewall rule to block unwanted websites. But VPN apps break these firewall rules and allow access to unwanted websites. For example, if Facebook is blocked with MikroTik Firewall and any expert user installs and enables VPN apps (such as OpenVPN, Hotspot Shield, ProtonVPN, NordVPN, PureVPN etc.), he can easily get access to Facebook. So, system administrators should also block popular VPN apps so that user cannot use those VPN servers. Blocking VPN apps is not so [...]

Computer Network Topology Outline | September 12, 2017
The first thing that has to study about a network is its physical shape or design layout. It will be extremely important when a wiring scheme and design are selected for a new network installation. Actually Network Topology refers to physical shape or design layout of a network. Network topology determines how different nodes in a network are connected and how these nodes communicate to each other. Types of Computer Network Topology Network really has two shapes or two types [...]

How to Create Free SSL/TLS Certificate with OpenSSL | July 23, 2021
SSL/TLS certificate is required to encrypt data sent over internet communication. Without encryption, the sent data can be hacked by the middle man attack. SSL/TLS certificate is usually a pair key, public key and private key, solution where data is encrypted with public key and decrypted with private key. In public communication, public key is required to be signed by a CA (certificate authority) but in private communication, there is no need to be signed by any CA. If we [...]

MikroTik VPN Configuration with PPTP (Connecting Remote Client) | August 17, 2016
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a technology that extends private network across a public network. It enables private network users to send and receive data across public network as if their network devices were directly connected to the private network. There are many VPN services in MikroTik RouterOS 7. Among them, MikroTik PPTP is a mostly used VPN service. It is a client-server VPN technology. So, a user can access server, printer, IP phone and any other network devices of [...]

How to Bind Hotspot User to MAC and Static IP in MikroTik | November 6, 2020
MikroTik Hotspot is usually a user based Hotspot access controlling system. Internet access and bandwidth can easily be maintained with Hotspot user based system. But sometimes we may require more control on Hotspot system which is not possible only username based system. So, we may need to bind hotspot user to MAC and static IP address. If we can bind hotspot user to static IP address, it is easy to control Hotspot users with MikroTik Router and Firewall. So, in [...]

DNS (Domain Name System) Server is an essential part to any computer network. Today web communication cannot imagine without DNS Server. DNS is a client server protocol where DNS Client requests for the domain name resolution and DNS Server response on it. Every network should have a DNS Server because local DNS Server improves network performance by caching DNS information and serving DNS request locally. DNS Server can be configured either Windows or Linux operating system. In this article, I [...]
